Windsor Heights Community & Events Center
Join your Polk County Democrats for the 2024 Women’s Event! An evening of Cabernet, Chardonnay, Chocolate and Conversation.
We’ll be joined by keynote speaker Abbey Clements. Abbey is the Executive Director and co-founder of Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence, a grassroots movement of educators across America whose mission is to empower teachers and school staff to demand that communities are safe from gun violence.
Teachers Unify is the bridge connecting the education and gun violence prevention spaces — filling a gap in the national dialogue around gun violence that has, for too long, excluded teachers. Abbey is a survivor teacher of the Sandy Hook School tragedy on December 14, 2012 and has been an elementary teacher for 32 years. We then will be joined by a panel discussion with Mary Jane Cobb, Past Executive Director of ISEA, Rep. Molly Buck, State Representative and teacher and Akshara Eswar, State Director of March For Our Lives. The discussion will be moderated by Rep. Lindsay James.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. The event begins at 7:00 PM. Space is limited, so buy your tickets today!
